Chief Joshua Ripp has been a proud member of the Maple Bluff Fire Rescue Department since 1997. While he has served with our department since 1997, he began his fire service career with the Mazomanie Fire Department years before while attending high school at Wisconsin Heights. Chief Ripp completed our internship program and earned an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science from Madison Area Technical College. Josh volunteered and worked part-time with the Maple Bluff Fire Department until he was hired full time as an Assistant Chief in 2002. For six years Josh served as the Assistant Chief in charge of fire rescue operations and apparatus. In 2008 Josh was promoted to the position of Chief. As a chief officer with Maple Bluff, Josh has served on the Executive Boards of the Dane County Fire Chiefs and EMS Associations. He also represents the Dane County Fire Chiefs Association on the Dane County 911 and Technical Advisory Boards. Assistant Chief Kristopher Loy has been a member of the Maple Bluff Fire Rescue Department since 2001. Kristopher grew up in Fennimore, WI and moved to the Madison area in 2000 to attend Madison Area Technical College’s Fire Service Program. In 2001 he began his internship with the Maple Bluff Fire Rescue Department and then completed the internship and his Associate’s Degree in Fire Science in 2002. In 2003 Kristopher was hired as the full time EMT in charge of training and quality assurance by the Blooming Grove, Burke, Maple Bluff Ambulance District. While working full time for the ambulance district, Kristopher continued to volunteer for the Maple Bluff Fire Department and was ultimately promoted to Lieutenant and then hired as a part time relief officer. In 2005 Kristopher was promoted and hired full time with the Maple Bluff Fire Rescue Department as an Assistant Chief. As Assistant Chief, Kristopher is in charge of fire department training, personnel, and public information. Assistant Chief Loy is the President of Dane County’s Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (M.A.B.A.S.) Division 115. He is also an active member of the Dane County and State of Wisconsin Fire Chiefs Associations. Assistant Chief Jeff Drager was recently hired by the Maple Bluff Fire Rescue Department in March of 2012. Jeff graduated from Sussex Hamilton High School in 2002, and then attended Waukesha County Technical College where he received his degree in Fire Science. Jeff has volunteered with the Lisbon Fire Department in Waukesha County since 2005. In 2010 Jeff was promoted to the position of Lieutenant and currently serves as a part time relief officer for the Lisbon Fire Department. Prior to joining our department, he was a regional manager for the Roundy’s Supermarkets, Inc. As Assistant Chief with the Maple Bluff Fire Department, Jeff is in charge of Fire Rescue Operations, as well as EMS training. Jeff lives in Sussex, WI with his wife Michelle. Captain: Alan K. Freitag has been a dedicated volunteer member of the Maple Bluff Fire Rescue Department since 1992. Al is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a graduate of Madison Area Technical College. In 1979 Al began his professional fire service career with the Airport Fire Department (Truax Field) at the Dane County Regional Airport serving as a Crash Rescue Firefighter. Through hard work and dedication he was promoted to the ranks of Captain and Assistant Chief. After 26 years of service, Al retired in 2012 holding the rank of Deputy Chief. Al previously held the titles of Firefighter and Lieutenant within our department, but currently holds the responsibility of Training Captain and part time Relief Officer. When not volunteering his time with our department he is a part time Fire & EMS instructor for Madison Area Technical Collage.
