Maple Bluff Fire Rescue Department


The Maple Bluff Fire Rescue Department is seeking candidates for an immediate hiring of an Assistant Fire Chief. Under the direction of the Fire Chief, the Assistant Chief is responsible for overseeing and coordinating operational activities of the department. The Assistant Chief also responds to emergency calls and acts as a shift supervisor. The position is responsible for managing the department’s equipment and inventory, assisting with departmental training, and overseeing Fire and EMS report quality assurance. Additionally, the Assistant Chief may be required to act as the designee of the Fire Chief in the Chiefs absence.

The Assistant Chief position is a salary position and will be required to work a rotating 24 hour schedule (24 on/24 off/24 on/24 off/24 on/96 off). The 2019 annual salary is between $47,000.00 and $51,000.00 (depending on qualifications).   • High school diploma (or equivalency) required.
  • Associate’s degree in fire science, emergency medical management, public or business administration, or related field (or greater)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible operational and/or administrative management experience in either the Fire or EMS services
  • NIMS ICS 200 (with the ability to obtain ICS 300 & 400 within probationary period
  • Wisconsin Firefighter II
  • Entry level apparatus operator: pumper (or greater)
  • Fire Officer I
  • Emergency Service Instructor (desirable)
  • Fire Inspector (desirable)
  • Wisconsin Advanced EMT
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Must be able to possess or able to obtain a valid WI driver’s license
  • Any combination of education and experience which in the sole discretion of the Village of Maple Bluff would demonstrate the employee’s ability to meet the required knowledge, skills, or abilities for the position
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment physical examination, drug screen, background investigation, and psychological exam.
